ONDANSTERON  4 MG TABLET

DESCRIPTION

Onway Tablet (Ondansteron 4 mg) is an antiemetic medicine. It is used for the treatment and prevention of nausea and vomiting associated with surgery, radiation treatment (the use of high-energy radiation to destroy cancer cells), or the use of anti-cancer medications. This medicine works by blocking the action of a chemical substance that causes nausea or vomiting.

INDICATION

• Prevention and treatment of nausea and vomiting :  Onway Tablet (Ondansteron 4 mg) is used to effectively prevent and treat nausea and vomiting caused by various conditions, including gastrointestinal issues and other triggers.

• Post-operative nausea and vomiting : Onway Tablet (Ondansteron 4 mg) Helps reduce nausea and vomiting after surgery, promoting quicker recovery and improved comfort.

• Gastrointestinal issues : Onway Tablet (Ondansteron 4 mg) Effective for managing nausea and vomiting linked to gastrointestinal disorders such as gastritis, gastroenteritis, or other digestive disturbances.

• Nausea due to medications : Onway Tablet (Ondansteron 4 mg) Provides relief from nausea caused by medications like antibiotics or pain relievers that may irritate the stomach.

MECHANISM OF ACTION

Onway Tablet (Ondansteron 4 mg) is a selective 5-HT3 receptor antagonist. It blocks serotonin from binding to 5-HT3 receptors in the brain and gastrointestinal tract. By doing so, it prevents the activation of the vomiting center in the brain. This action helps reduce nausea and vomiting. Ondansetron is commonly used for chemotherapy-induced nausea, post-operative nausea, and other gastrointestinal-related nausea.

Drug  Interactions

Drug-Drug Interaction : Onway Tablet (Ondansteron 4 mg)  may cause a serious reaction when used with certain medicines like pain killers (acetaminophen, tramadol, ibuprofen), anti-anxiety (pregabalin, lorazepam), and antiparkinson medicine (apomorphine).

Drug-Food Interaction : No interaction found.

Drug-Disease Interaction : The use of Onway Tablet (Ondansteron 4 mg)  is restricted in people with hypokalemia (low potassium) and severe liver disease.

PRECAUTION

It is also advised to adjust the dose in individuals with liver impairment. The drug should be used during pregnancy only if clearly necessary, as its safety has not been fully established. Additionally, caution is needed when combining ondansetron with other serotonergic medications due to the potential risk of serotonin syndrome, characterized by symptoms like agitation, confusion, and high body temperature.
